Title: Idea House Interactive (2000)
Client: Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN
Project: Idea House Interactive was a free-standing interactive kiosk (installed in the museum gallery on an I-Mac Special Edition DV) creating as a part of The Home Show at the Walker Art Center. The kiosk allowed visitors to experience and read archival photographs and texts on the Walker’s 1947 Idea House prototype and the guests who were invited to spend entire weekends in the house as a part of the project. The program includes a contextualizing architectural timeline-topology that highlights other milestones of modern architecture in context to the original Idea House. The design of the interface is structured on a strict 64 pixel grid, while the interaction design is programmed to feel organic. The rigid modularity of the grid structure juxtaposed with the fluid organicism of the interaction is a direct reference to the concepts of Modern design.
