Title: Brice Marden Drawings
Client: Whitney Museum of American Art
Project: Published to accompany an exhibition of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s collection of 52 Brice Marden drawings, this book shows how Marden’s innovative concepts began and evolved through his drawings. The author surveys his graphic work, including the solid forms and muted tonalities of the 1960s, and the later calligraphic imagery that culminated in the “Cold Mountain” series. An interview with the artist explores his interplay of technique and subject matter, his sources of inspiration, and the role that his drawings play in the oeuvre.
